Cynical about life, serious about vegetables.

It’s slowly turning green!

In my modest little vegetable garden, even though it’s only the end of February, real magic is starting to happen. The strawberries, mint, and rhubarb seem to have gone completely crazy — they’re already sending out young, bright green leaves.

These are the lucky ones that get the most sunshine. The plants growing in the shade don’t have new leaves yet, but I’m sure they’re already dreaming about it!

I also planted some garlic — twelve cloves so far — but their purpose isn’t just to flavor our meals. I placed them strategically: next to the gooseberries, strawberries, and in the spots where tomatoes and horseradish will appear in about two months. Garlic doesn’t just boost the growth of neighboring plants — it also helps keep away many pests, including certain types of aphids!

During my last visit to the nursery, I couldn’t resist buying a beautiful little tree. That’s how my bay laurel bush on the terrace gained a new companion — a rosemary plant that smells wonderfully of fresh resin.

A green garden truly is a source of joy and inspiration. May all the plants grow strong and beautiful!
