A little bit about rats and tits!

Hello, my dear friends! It happened! I’ve officially started my holiday! I don’t want to complain that it’s only one week, because honestly, sometimes you just need those 7 days to take a break from certain people.

Seven days matter! Last week I wasn’t very active on the blog, but now I’ll tell you what’s been going on with me and what’s changed.

Let’s start with the rats. In total there were three, and since they died, I haven’t seen a single one more. That’s great — and I hope it stays that way! If you’re curious: two of them got caught in rat traps baited with chocolate. Rats simply cannot resist chocolate. Mine was hazelnut, but the most important thing is that it’s sweet. The third one must have eaten poison and died a bit earlier, because my wife and I found it near the shed, already quite stiff. And in case you’re wondering — yes, it already had little worms on it. Yuck!

Next topic? The tits! I’ve noticed that a whole family of great tits is visiting me. Two adults and two youngsters — you can tell by the black stripe on their bellies. Yes, I had to google that myself! The stripe is wider in males and narrower in females, while in young ones it’s invisible. From my observations, the young ones have ADHD, but unfortunately none of them has been caught on camera yet! I’m still waiting for other birds to appear at the feeder, because I see so many species flying around. Maybe it will finally work out — keep your fingers crossed!

And what are my plans for this short vacation? If it doesn’t rain, then definitely walks and trips with my better half and our kids, since by a lucky coincidence they also have time off! I’d love to wander through the forest, look for mushrooms, take photos — we’ll see if the weather allows. And if it’s nasty and wet, then I’ll probably catch up on movies and TV shows!

On top of that, everything suggests that autumn is coming. There are chestnuts and cones lying under the trees, fallen leaves are starting to appear, and one maple at my workplace decided it’s not worth waiting and turned completely yellow already!

Halloween is just around the corner! Until the next post, my spooky readers!
