Time for strawberries?

The work continues, but I’m getting really close to the finish line! From the less-expected things — my strawberries have decided to bloom. In October! Looks like they want to surprise me more than the electricity bill. After digging and levelling the ground for the tunnels, I was left with quite a pile of soil. I had no clue what to do with it, but as always my wife saved the day. Now we have a lovely little greenhouse for lettuces. Surprises at every step — just like a box of chocolates!

The drip hoses are almost all laid down. One is in the pots, where root vegetables will grow: carrots, parsley, and celery. We’ll see — maybe something will sprout, or maybe it’ll just be wishful thinking. Another hose runs through the raised bed, and there we decided to plant horseradish and wasabi. For balance of flavors and a test of endurance. The third one goes under the fence — where tomatoes always grow beautifully. Maybe this year they’ll be even prettier, since they’ll be watered with love!

Still left on the list: installing the irrigation system in the tunnels. For now, I’ve only brought water to them. Once I finish, I’ll take some new photos — unless my camera decides to rebel.

And finally: how to use old pieces of bamboo? I had the idea to turn them into pots for peppers. Bamboo works perfectly — eco-friendly, good-looking, and it doesn’t bite. That’s all the updates for today. I’m off to rest, before something else decides to bloom.
